Peter is a Chartered Geomatics Surveyor and Chartered Minerals Surveyor (MRICS) with over 20 years’ professional experience. He is past Chair of the Society of Chartered Surveyors (Ireland) Minerals professional group and currently sits on the SCSI’s UAV working group. Peter was a member of the Project Steering Group (PSG) for CIRIA RP1063 ‘Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Asset Management’ (2019) and is the current representative for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors on the British Standards Institute drone committee. He has been involved in a number of funded research projects using remote sensing technology. He has gained a broad range of experience within the extractive industries sector working on mining projects in Europe, Australia, Botswana and Namibia. Peter regularly uses Earth Observation, remote sensing and GIS for the survey and environmental work he is involved in. Peter is licensed to operate an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs (drones) by the Irish Aviation Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority (UK). He has carried out over 300 flights using fixed wing and multi-rotor drones for a range of end uses e.g. volumetric surveys, boundary surveys, geological mapping, environmental impact assessment, visual impact assessment, quarry stability assessments etc. Peter is responsible for SLR Group’s drone operations.
