How to Conduct Smarter Inspections of Powerlines and Transmission Grids with Drones

Part of M300 RTK 'How To' Webinar Series

10 AM CEST, Wednesday, Oct 7, 2020

How can drones be used as intelligent tools in powerline inspection and help to create efficient new maintenance solution?

Power lines are the circulatory system of our modern power grid.
In Germany several hundred thousand of the approximately 1.8 million kilometers of power lines are still above ground, because of the potential dangers and the great heights, powerline inspections and maintenance works are a huge challenge for the energy industry.

New and intelligent drones with high performance cameras are a game changer for modern maintenance solutions.

Using AI technology in combination with, wide-angle, zoom and thermal imagery on state of the art drone platforms allows maintenance staff to work safely and as efficient as possible.

Here's what you will learn

  • The main challenges of inspecting power lines
  • The role of drones for grid inspections
  • A step-by-step video tutorial showing how to inspect power lines
  • Open Q&A at the end
