日本は、その地形と変化の大きな気候により、様々な自然災害の影響を受けやすい国の一つです。地震や津波に加え、火山噴火や台風、洪水、地滑りなどに見舞われることが少なくありません。しかし、日本はこのような災害の被害を何度も乗り越えてきており、国民はこの被害から立ち直る方法をよく理解しています。 歴史的建造物などの保護は、忍耐力と復興力を持つ日本文化の核とも言えるでしょう。人々は未来に向かい前進しながら、その一方で、歴史を蔑ろにすることはありません。災害からの復興時も、文化財の持つ歴史的要素が失われないよう、最新の注意を払います。日本では、歴史的遺産と地域づくりが密接に関係しているため、歴史的建造物のデジタルツインを作成し、建造物を記録し保護することに重きを置いています。 ### **海を望む海城「唐津城」** 佐賀県唐津湾に面した小さな丘の上に位置する唐津城は、ツツジや桜、藤の花が見頃の季節には、圧巻の美しさを誇ります。鶴が翼を広げたように見えるため、別名「舞鶴城」とも呼ばれるこの城郭は、400年以上の歴史を誇ります。 ![Karatsu Castle 1602年に唐津城の築城が開始され、7年の歳月をかけて完成しました。その後、城下町の威厳あるシンボルとされていましたが、1872年に封建制度が崩壊すると同時に解体されました。現在の5階建て城郭は、伝統的な技法や技術を使い、17世紀の状態を再現しながら再建されました。 城郭を支える石垣は、現存する唯一の遺構となっており、その歴史的価値は計り知れません。 「しかし、過去に何度も発生した地震や豪雨により、水が浸透し、石垣の一部が押し出されてきています」と、佐賀県唐津市役所の木本 聖 氏は述べています。唐津城の保存と保護に、迅速に対応する必要があります。 ![Karatsu Castle 佐賀県を拠点に業務を展開する株式会社とっぺんは、重要な文化財や歴史的遺産をデジタル・アーカイブ化することを専門としています。何世紀も前に築造された城郭を遺産として保護する任務は、唐津市生涯学習文化財課から依頼されました。 同社シニアエンジニアの田口 健一郎氏によると、通常、同社は写真から建築図面を作成することで、建築物の外観の詳細を保護する手法を取っています。しかし、唐津城の場合は、従来の技術では不十分でした。「石垣は三次元構造になっているため、従来の方法で、完全かつ正確に構造を再現するには限界があります。」 当時のデータ収集方法では望んでいた結果が得られなかったため、同社は、3D測定が実行でき、高解像度でリアルな城郭の3Dモデルを作成できる最新のツールと技術を採用する決断を下しました。 ### **新技術の導入：ドローン＆リアルタイムマッピング** 手頃な価格で購入でき、かつコンパクトで、正確な低高度マッピングソリューションであるDJI Phantom 4 RTK（以下、「P4 RTKは、GNSSとRTKモジュールの両方を利用して、リアルタイムのcmレベルの位置データを提供するため、とっぺんは構造物の測定をする際の絶対精度を心配する必要はありませんでした。また、ドローンに1インチ 20MP CMOSセンサーが搭載されているため、高品質の映像データを取得できる点も利点でした。 しかし、生成されたモデル内に、データを取得し損ねた箇所がないか確認する方法も必要でした。そのため、同社は、測量エリアの3D点群モデルをリアルタイムでレンダリングし視覚化して、さらなるドローン飛行が必要かを判断する基準となる、マッピングソリューションを使う必要がありました。 このソリューションがDJI Terraです。このオールインワン型のドローンマッピング ソリューションは、このような業務向けに設計されており、DJI TerraがP4 RTKとの最も高い互換性を備えています。 ### **簡単な****データ取得・処理**  使用が簡単で、かつ直感的な操作ができるDJI Terraは、傾斜（オブリーク）ミッション計画に対応しています。これにより、とっぺんは、P4 Terraを使うことで得られた利点は、詳細なデータだけではありません。このソフトウェアは処理時間が短いことも利点です。 アップデートを重ねてきたDJI Terraは、大幅に向上した効率性を以てマッピングを実行することができるため、データ処理のために、特別なハードウェアを使う必要性がなくなりました。P4 RTKで撮影した400枚の映像を処理するのに、DJI Terraが必要とするRAMはわずか1GB程度。これは明らかなアドバンテージで、とっぺんはドローン1機と処理用のデバイス1台を、唐津城の現場に持っていくだけで済みます。 > 「過去に弊社が使用した他のモデリングソフトウェアと比較して、DJI Terraは非常にスピーディに処理を行います。」と、とっぺんのドローンパイロット桑水悠治氏は述べています。「DJI Terraの2つのパワフルなツールを組み合わせることで、同社はよりスピーディなターンアラウンドタイムを実現することができました。「通常であれば数時間かかる作業が、今は短時間で完了します。さらに、データ分析については、以前はオフィスに持ち帰って処理するしかできませんでしたが、今は現場でデータの処理と分析ができ、データに何らかの誤差がないか直ぐに確認することができます。」と、桑水氏は述べています。 ### **将来への備え** 現在、唐津市はDJI Terraで生成した3Dモデルをもとに、唐津城の構造状態の詳細を確認することができます。唐津市役所都市計画課の木本氏は、「石垣は一旦崩れてしまうと、元の状態に戻すのは非常に難しいため、現在の石垣の最新状態を詳細に記録しておくことがとても重要になってきます。このようなモデルは、将来自然災害などが起きた時のために資料として使用できるよう、保存しておきます。」と述べています。
